#3 - Street Style

The streets of NYC are undoubtedly full with a countless amount of people; all with their own, unique sense of style. It amazes me that I can walk out of my dorm on 27th Street and see so many different looks. What also amazes me is that it is February and I have yet to see snowfall! As much as everyone wants to break out their cute winter furs and gloves, it has yet to be a necessity.

As I wandered though out the city, I came across this look. Katie Kuchler, a fellow FIT student mixes spring shorts with fun tights and a maroon, floppy hat in order to make her outfit completely acceptable and comfortable for this weather.

It will be interesting to see how this weather plays a part on how we dress. Before we know it, it may be time to break out our swim suits and sandals!

#2 - Key Trend for Fall 2012: Winter Whites

Fashion week is upon us once again! For many, this is just a week where there are extra pages in the style section of Newsday for them to skip through; but for any student here at FIT, it is the time we wait for all year for.

As I patiently wait for any and every fashion website to upload pictures from the fashion shows I couldn't get into, I can't help but wonder what the key trends for next season will be! One huge trend I have noticed many designers have already started showcasing is the color white.

A color so simple, yet reinvented each season. This rule breaking (no white after labor day?!), monochromatic look seems like it will be a huge trend next season.

Designers from Derek Lam to Peter Som and so many more in-between have been creating a number of garments in this simple, yet dramatic color.

#1 - Fashion Blogs I Like

The Beauty Department has the best style and make up tips from Lauren Conrad.
Refinery 29 is my go-to blog to keep me updated with everything there is to know about the fashion industry.
New York Magazine's, The Cut Blog is another source that keeps me in the loop of this industry. I love getting daily emails from them!

Working with Erica Domesek of P.S. - I Made This was a complete pleasure! Her blog inspires me and allows me to replicate my favorite designer goods while staying on a budget!
